There are reports that immune mechanisms are involved in the atherosclerosis pathogenesis (Wick et al., 2004; Lu and Kakkar, 2010) and it is well established that cardiovascular risk factors, such as HTN, diabetes and oxidative stress, stimulate arterial wall cells and other tissues to express and/or produce high HSP concentrations (Xu, 2002; Wick et al., 2014).
