Accessing The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database we found that cancer patients (of all cancer types) with high MSLN expression experienced poorer outcome with shorter overall survival (n = 8901, p < 0.001, hazard ratio 1.9 (CI 1.7–2.1) and relapse-free survival (n = 5664, p < 0.001, hazard ratio 1.6 (CI 1.4–1.8) (Fig. S1A, B, respectively). The gene discussed is MSLN; the disease is cancer.
