CDKN2B and cancer: In the most recent data from the Pan-Cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes of 107 sequenced melanomas, 52 BRAF mutations, 74 telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) mutations and 20 tumor protein p53 gene (TP53) mutations were found and two other genes were frequently mutated: cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A (CDKN2A) (CDK4 inhibitor (P16-INK4 or ARF) (55)) and cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2B (CDKN2B) (cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 binding protein or P15_INK4B (27)), but only 10 NF1 mutations were found [7].
