Since that Lactobacillus can convert tryptophan to indolealdehyde (IAld) and activate AHR signaling pathway [38], and that tryptophan supplementation increases Lactobacillus abundance and activates AHR, these findings raise the intriguing possibility that tryptophan-metabolizing microbiome may protect offspring against maternal CKD-induced hypertension via AHR. The gene discussed is AHR; the disease is chronic kidney disease.
