Notably, Ji et al. reported that USP7 can act as a negative regulator of Wnt/β-Catenin signalling by promoting Axin deubiquitination and stabilisation during osteoblast and adipocyte differentiation.40 Consistent with our findings, two previous studies have demonstrated that USP7 is a positive regulator of Wnt signalling through direct regulation of β-Catenin deubiquitination in colorectal cancer.38,41 The differences in cell models used and disease type among these studies may underlie the causes of this contradiction. The gene discussed is USP7; the disease is colorectal cancer.
