Increased S1pr3 mRNA expression was also demonstrated in brain tissue in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a model of multiple sclerosis [61,62] and in a mouse model of Sandhoff disease, another lipid storage disease that showed a milder course with reduced proliferation of glial cells and less astrogliosis in S1pr3-/- mice suffering from Sandhoff disease. Here, S1PR3 is linked to experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis.
