To investigate diagnostic and prognostic roles of neurofilament light chain (NF-L), we assessed levels of NF-L, S100B, interleukin-6 (IL-6), E-selectin, vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in patients with acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) and healthy controls. The gene discussed is S100B; the disease is transient ischemic attack.
