Compared to healthy controls [601 ng/mL (IQR 498–633)], ICAM-1 levels were found to be significantly increased in ischemic stroke patients within the first 8 h [1,065 ng/mL (IQR 814–2,655)] (p < 0.01) after symptom onset (Kruskal–Wallis: chi square = 11.98, p = 0.0025, followed by Dunn's multiple comparison test) (Figure 4D). The gene discussed is ICAM1; the disease is ischemic stroke.
