Daisuke Kawai et al. revealed that H2 rich water improved MCD diet-induced nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) in mice by decreasing plasma ALT levels, hepatic TNF-α and IL-6, oxidative stress and apoptosis related markers, free fatty acid (FFA) uptake-related gene fatty acid translocase (FAT) (Kawai et al., 2012). The gene discussed is CD36; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
