It has been shown that reduced expression levels of miRNA-7 correlates with high levels of EGFR and upstream genes involved in Akt pathway (such as IRS-1 and IRS-2), leading to inhibition of migration, invasion and proliferation of glioblastoma cells (Kefas et al., 2008; Karsy et al., 2012; Babae et al., 2014).
