Following the suggestion of Lee and co-authors, who demonstrated that β-ARs are expressed and have an important functional role in the benign counterparts of LMS and LPS (i.e., leiomyoma and lipoma19), we found that β-AR signalling is involved in the proliferation of liposarcoma and leiomyosarcoma cells, since the β-AR antagonist propranolol effectively inhibited cell proliferation, though to a higher extent in SW-872 liposarcoma than leiomyosarcoma cells. The gene discussed is ADRB2; the disease is leiomyosarcoma.
