Tauopathies are neurogenerative diseases characterized by dysfunction and accumulation of abnormal tau protein in neurons and glia of affected brain regions1, and include frontotemporal dementia (FTD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), that can be either sporadic or inherited when caused by mutations in the MAPT gene encoding tau2.
