Genetically-instrumented higher circulating concentration of plasminogen (encoded by PLG) was associated with a lower ischaemic stroke risk (OR 0.85; 95% CI 0.72, 1.00) (Fig. 6), consistent with the known efficacy of recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) for acute ischaemic stroke32. The gene discussed is PLG; the disease is ischemic stroke.
