A not entirely different scenario was formerly faced in the evaluation of anti-inflammatory agents in the treatment of autoimmune disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis prior to successfully targeting TNF-α with anti-TNF-α antibody biologicals (Feldmann and Maini, 2003), which now represent one of the most effective and best-selling drug classes worldwide (Anderson, 2019).
