A recent study by Saltarella et al. found that the plasma levels of fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2), hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and platelet-derived growth factor-β (PDGF-β) at diagnosis have predictive significance for response to treatment in MM-sensitive patients and those refractory to bortezomib [15].
