GALNT12 and colorectal carcinoma: GALNT12, which codes for N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase-type 12, is highly expressed in the normal colon, is downregulated in a significant proportion of CRCs [90,91], and is located (9q21-33) in close proximity to the linkage peak 9q22-31, recurrently found when studying familial CRC cases [92,93,94,95], making it an especially attractive candidate gene for CRC predisposition.
