Alterations in laboratory values are also frequent and varied, depending on disease severity, e.g. anaemia, leucocytosis, neutrophilia, lymphopenia, and elevated creatinine, erythrocyte sedimentation velocity (ESV), C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), serum ferritin, troponins, and cytokines (among other markers) [12,13]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and anemia (phenotype).
