FXR1 and Anxiety: CRISPR-Cas9-mediated knockout of GSK3β in neuronal cultures affected AMPA receptors, and this effect was mediated via FXR1.48 CRISPR-Cas9-mediated somatic knockout of GSK3β or an increase in FXR1 expression in the adult mouse mPFC causes a decrease in AMPA-mediated spontaneous currents and a reduction in anxiety-like behaviors.11 This suggests that GSK3β–FXR1 interaction is important in the regulation of AMPA receptors and anxiety-related behaviors.
