Interleukin‐6 (IL‐6) is an inflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of various neurological disorders, including strokes (Suzuki & Tanaka, 2009), acting as a messenger molecule between leukocytes, vascular endothelium, and parenchymal cells (Dziedzic, Slowik, & Szczudlik, 2003; Gertz et al., 2012). The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is stroke disorder.
