CD4 and systemic lupus erythematosus: Moreover, in this study, although the methylated cytosine depth of both transforming growth factor B1 and interleukin-6 receptor transcripts were < 5, both were m5C hypermethylated in CD4+ T cells of SA/SM-MA groups, which might stabilize their mRNA expression and lead to the imbalance of Th17/regulatory T cell differentiation and, thus, likely contribute to SLE pathology.
