In the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-AARP Diet and Health Study cohort, alcohol consumption at the study baseline was not statistically significantly associated with breast cancer–specific survival.60 In the Women’s Health Initiative, there was no association between prediagnostic alcohol consumption and breast cancer–specific or all-cause mortality.61 There was some evidence of decreased breast cancer–specific mortality for estrogen receptor–negative tumors. The gene discussed is ESR1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
