S100A8 and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma: Guo et al. (2012) also showed that the up-regulation of MIR24 leads to morphological changes, low cell proliferation and enhancement of cell invasion potential in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma by inhibiting transcription of the S100A8 gene. Additionally, the overexpression of MIR24 inhibits osteosarcoma cell proliferation by blocking the transcription of AGPAT2 gene encoding for Lysophosphatidic Acid Acyltransferase β, an enzyme involved in osteosarcoma cell proliferation (Song et al., 2013).
