Consistently confirming the involvement of IL-1β in the pathophysiology of HA, some authors (Tagariello and di Giovine, 1996; Valentino, 2010; Dutra et al., 2014; Srivastava, 2015) documented markedly elevated IL-1β levels in histological section of the synovial membranes collected during synovectomy or joint replacement from HA patients as compared to patients without hemophilia (Roosendaal et al., 1999). The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is hemophilia.
