HSP105 has been shown as an important element of the HSP70 machinery for refolding of denatured proteins and protection against stress-induced cell death in mammalian cells [38], which suggests that overexpression of HSP105 and HSP70 in HK-2 cells might be a coordinated response against the cellular stress imposed by hypoxia and hyperglycemia.
