IFNG and COVID-19: The hyperinflammation observed in adult patients with severe COVID-19 (both in ICU and non-ICU care) is characterized by increased plasma levels of the following: pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-7, IL-8, IL-9, IL-10, IFN-γ, TNF); chemokines known for their ability to attract neutrophils, myeloid cells, T lymphocytes, and NK cells to the site of infection and inflammation (MCP1, MIP1A, MIP1B); and growth factors (G-CSF, GM-CSF).
