Aspirin, which inhibits the activation of the STING pathway upstream, through acetylation of cGAS, might also be tested to treat severe COVID-19, since it should both inhibit the TF-induced hyper-coagulation associated with COVID-19, and contribute to slow down the cytokine storm that can be induced by over-activation of the STING pathway.
