According to EASL [34], AASL [35] and KASL [36], current medications could be vitamin E and the PPAR–agonist pioglitazone, an insulin sensitizer in use for type 2 diabetes treatment, but only in selected categories of patients due to limiting side-effects, related to higher cancer risks, increased body weight and not univocal results [6,7,8,9,10].
