Transcription of most genes (fimH, papC, papA, sfa, focG, afa, kpsmTII, iss, iroN, cnf1, astA, and ompT) was not associated with any of the three diagnoses (occasional, recurrent and cronic); however irp2 was significantly associated with occasional vaginal infection (Chi-square test p <0.05, Table 6). This evidence concerns the gene IREB2 and infective vaginitis.
