RAB3A and diabetes mellitus: Table 2 shows clinical characteristics of the patient groups. Higher RAB3A (2.17-fold increase, P < 0.01; Fig. 6A) and RAB27A levels (1.53-fold increase, P < 0.05; Fig. 6, C and D) were observed in the elevated UAE patient group than in the nonalbuminuric group. RAB3A was elevated in both patients without and with DM (2.56- and 2.34-fold increases, P < 0.01 and P < 0.05, respectively; Fig. 6B). Moreover, UAE levels were positively correlated with both RAB3A (r = 0.515, P < 0.05) and RAB27A (r = 0.475, P < 0.05).
