Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) represents a heterogeneous subtype of breast cancer (BC) defined by the lack of immunohistochemical expression of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2), and by variable though distinct molecular profiles [1, 2]. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is triple-negative breast carcinoma.
