Over-activation of NLRP3 has been associated with many chronic inflammatory diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease [3], Parkinson’s disease [4], multiple sclerosis [5], metabolic disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D), atherosclerosis [6], gout [7], osteoarthritis [8], and rheumatoid arthritis [6,7,9]. Here, NLRP3 is linked to metabolic disease.
