Following this discovery, many more genes have been linked to the disease, including parkin (PARK2), UCH-L1 (PARK5), PINK1 (PARK6), DJ-1 (PARK7), leucine-rich repeat kinase-2 (LRRK2; PARK8), and ATP13A2 (PARK9), as well as the risk genes GBA1, VPS35, EIF4G1, and PARK16, which have been linked to PD according to family-based linkage analysis. Here, PINK1 is linked to Parkinson disease.
