On the other hand, a recent study on celiac disease showed that the HLA-DPB1*04:01 allele protects genetically-susceptible children from celiac disease [36], a fact that is in line with our results, concerning children and adults with MS, while in another study in 2015, another HLA-DPB1*04 allele, namely HLA-DPB1*04:02, conferred a strong protective effect against narcolepsy [37]. This evidence concerns the gene HLA-DPB1 and celiac disease.
