A study has shown that mice with acute kidney injury demonstrate an increase in nuclear beta-catenin in interstitial fibroblast cells, and quercetin treatment resulted in reduced nuclear beta-catenin levels and reduced expression of pro-fibrotic factors fibronectin, α-smooth muscle actin, Snail and Twist, leading to a reduced severity of renal fibrosis [20]. This evidence concerns the gene FN1 and acute kidney injury.
