In keeping with recently reported evidence on the treatment of hypertension in the general population [37–39], for primary intervention, we suggest angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, calcium channel blockers and diuretics as preferred first line agents, and spironolactone, hydralazine and minoxidil as preferred second line agents in African patients with RA. Here, ACE is linked to hypertensive disorder.
