Patients in the highest NLR quartile (quartile 4) had significantly higher C-reactive protein (P=0.018) and CrCl levels (P=0.002), more PVD (P=0.027), more insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (P=0.018), more likely to smoke (P<0.001), and were also significantly older (P=0.003). Here, CRP is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
