Tosco et al. (84) comparing the diagnostic efficiency of the detection of intestinal deposits of anti-TG2 antibodies and their measurement in biopsy culture supernatants in patients with potential CD, showed a higher diagnostic sensitivity and specificity for the measurement of secreted anti-TG2 antibody into culture supernatants than for immunofluorescence detection of mucosal deposits of the same autoantibodies. This evidence concerns the gene TGM2 and Cowden disease.
