Mice heterozygous for SGO-1 showed increased chromosome instability and susceptibility to tumors (Yamada et al., 2012), and mutations in human SGO-1 have been associated with gastric and colorectal cancers (Kim et al., 2013), as well as altered heart and gut rhythm (Chetaille et al., 2014). This evidence concerns the gene SGO1 and colorectal cancer.
