The failure of these approaches to slow AD's progression [with the possible exception of anti-Aβ antibody Aducanumab, whose recently released findings are controversial (12)] resulted in increased targeting of tau, the main component of neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), by vaccination (13), anti-tau antibodies (14), tau aggregation inhibitors (15), and kinase inhibitors (16). This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
