Surprisingly, we found that, unlike the canonical TP53 target CDKN1A, DINO upregulation in response to DNA damage is through a pathway that is independent of ATM/CHK2 and was also observed in the HPV-negative C33A cervical cancer cell line that expresses a DNA binding-defective TP53 mutant. The gene discussed is CDKN1A; the disease is cervical carcinoma.
