In light of the fact that obesity is an ever-increasing pathology, more detailed studies aimed at identifying the roles and mechanisms of the action of NLRP3, or the clinical development of molecules to selectively antagonize the NLRP3 inflammasome, are necessary for a better understanding of the pathogenesis of comorbidities connected with obesity, as well as the development of pioneering approaches in precision medicine for the management of obesity and its complications. Here, NLRP3 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
