The role of TRPV4 in obesity and obesity development is sometimes conflicting, with knockout of TRPV4 shown to increase weight gain and promote obesity during high-fat treatment in mice [39], whereas others have shown that administration of GSK205, an inhibitor of TRPV4, upregulates the expression level of thermogenic genes such as PGC1α and UCP1, which further promotes the browning process in 3T3-F442A adipocytes [40]. This evidence concerns the gene PPARGC1A and obesity disorder.
