CXCL9 and infection: Even though NK cells are also recruited via CCL3/4/5 [267], the secretion of CXCL9/10/11 probably boosts recruitment in the later stages of infection, approximately 1 to 2 d.p.i. Antiviral molecules, such as TRAIL and IFN-λ have also been shown to be secreted due to the infection with hRSV around this time, and almost certainly contribute to the restriction of viral replication in conjunction with NK cells [269,274,279,284].
