Studies have shown that the blood cell profile of COVID-19 patients consists of decreased white blood cell (WBC) count, lymphopenia, thrombocytopenia, RNAemia, elevated aspartate aminotransferase (AST), elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP), and mildly elevated procalcitonin (secondary infection) levels [25]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and lymphopenia.
