Likewise, there was overlap between many of the top-ranked gene bodies (Fig. 5d) and promoters (Fig. 5e) showing gain in methylation between the two studies, with many of the best hits (LCE3B, LCE3C, PRAMEF23, DEF104B) being common to both, supporting our theory that immune gene alterations may prefigure MDD. This evidence concerns the gene PRAMEF5 and major depressive disorder.
