HK2, the first enzyme in the glycolytic pathway catalyzing the reaction in which glucose is phosphorylated into glucose‐6‐phosphate, has been identified overexpressed in numerous tumors, such as laryngeal carcinoma (Chen, Zhang, Li, Tang, & Kong, 2014) and breast cancer (Marini et al., 2013). The gene discussed is HK2; the disease is breast cancer.
