Interestingly, in another report, fucoidan ameliorated high-fat diet (HFD)-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in rats, an activity attributed to the suppression of malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) levels as well as an increase in total glutathione (GSH) levels, accompanied by inhibition of important inflammatory mediators like interleukin (IL)-1β, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α [63]. Here, TNF is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
