The Hh receptor, Patched (Ptch1), whose expression is induced upon activation of the Hh pathway, is overexpressed in many cancers, including breast, prostate, ovary, colon, brain, melanoma [4,5,6], and myeloid leukemia [7,8] (see the Human Protein Atlas website http://www.proteinatlas.org/ENSG00000185920-PTCH1/cancer). This evidence concerns the gene PTCH1 and cancer.
