The authors demonstrated that TET2 loss of function in macrophages exacerbated NLR Family Pyrin Domain Containing 3 (Nlrp3) mediated Interleukin 1 beta (IL-1b) production which in turn accelerated atherosclerosis in a context of CHIP, thereby demonstrating that CHIP leads to increased inflammation.
