This finding is of particular significance in light of the plethora of negative clinical trials using PPARγ agonists in the therapy of gastrointestinal malignancies14,58: since the loss of MTMR7 is a common event in CRC, induced by stimuli including insulin or insulin-like growth factors25, the MTMR7 expression status might be a predictive parameter when targeting PPARγ in the setting of anti-proliferative therapies. Here, PPARG is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
