Jiao et al. screened the most commonly mutated cancer genes, including p53, in well-differentiated somatic PanNETs by whole exome sequencing and found a high frequency of mutations in MEN1 (multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1), ATRX (alpha thalassemia/mental retardation syndrome X-linked), and DAXX (death-domain associated protein), but a low frequency of mutations in p53 [67]. The gene discussed is DAXX; the disease is cancer.
